Важно подчеркнуть, что эпизоды холотропных состояний различной продолжительности могут также возникать спонтанно (во время психодуховных кризисов). Сейчас их рассматривают как проявление душевных болезней (психозов). Однако при правильном понимании и надлежащей поддержке и отношении, они могут заканчиваться эмоциональным и психосоматическим исцелением, позитивной трансформацией личности и эволюцией сознания.
